Docutrix vs Notion AI for company documents

Short verdict: if your team already writes its wiki, notes and projects in Notion, Notion AI is a strong way to search and work across all of it. If your knowledge lives in PDFs and Word files in SharePoint or Google Drive, and you need every answer cited to the exact document and page, Docutrix is the more focused tool, with no workspace migration.

How Notion AI answers from documents

Notion AI works across your Notion pages and databases, and on Business and Enterprise its Enterprise Search can look across connected apps like Slack, Google Drive and Jira. Notion says that when it answers from your workspace or a connected app, it'll always cite its sources so you can go back to them.

AI Connectors index content based on each person's permissions, so people only get answers from resources they can access. Notion notes that connectors generally reach about one year of history from setup, varying by app.

How Docutrix differs

Docutrix doesn't ask you to move your documents anywhere. Connect SharePoint or Google Drive, or upload PDFs and Word files, and your team asks questions in plain language. Answers come back in seconds, cite the exact document and page, and if the answer isn't in your documents, Docutrix says so instead of guessing.

Four Industry Contexts (Legal, Finance, HR & People, Engineering) help Docutrix handle the language of contracts, financial statements, employment policy and technical documentation. Admins can restrict document collections to specific users or teams on Business and Enterprise.

Pricing compared

Full Notion AI comes with Notion's Business plan at $20 per member per month billed yearly, or $24 billed monthly. Free and Plus workspaces get limited complimentary AI responses to try it, and AI Connectors require the Business or Enterprise plan.

Docutrix Business is $20 USD per user per month (minimum 5 users) and includes SharePoint, Google Drive, the Team Admin Panel and 50,000 indexed pages. Teams that upload files directly can start on Starter ($30/month, 2 users) or Pro ($100/month, 10 users). If your team already pays for Notion Business, Notion AI is included; Docutrix would be an extra tool. See full pricing.

Security and data handling

Notion states that by default it and its AI subprocessors do not use customer data to train any models. Its LLM providers use zero data retention for Enterprise workspaces and retain data for 30 days or fewer on other plans.

Docutrix never uses documents, queries or answers to train AI models, on any plan. Each organisation's data is isolated and encrypted (AES-256 at rest, TLS 1.2+ in transit). Enterprise adds data residency, on-premise or dedicated hosting, and a private LLM in your own VPC. See security.
